The club was first opened in 1957 as a Jazz club and the Beatles along with other famous bands played at the Cavern Club as a launching pad gig. In 1973, the club was closed but due to popular demands the club reopened in 1984 and has remained open ever since.

The club revealed its newest addition, a Wall of Fame on its 40th birthday in 1997. The Cavern Club is still recognized as the best music venue to check out live performances. The music covers various genres ranging from tributes to contemporary music.
