The 2.3-square-km Longshuihu village in the Shuangqiao district of Chongqing municipality, also known as ‘women’s town,’ was based on the local traditional concept of ‘women rule and men obey,’

Playing on apparent social traditions of the areas of Sichuan province and Chongqing where women often undertake leadership roles relationships with their men, the Chinese hope to construct a town where tourists and visitors can bear witness to a world where men are women’s subordinates

The motto of the new town would be “women never make mistakes, and men can never refuse women’s requests”, Chinese media have reported.
Though the concept is in complete opposition to the discriminatory social relationship norms of old Chinese society, where it was the men who totally dominated the society. It is expected the town would be ready for its first residents within five years.
