BASE Jumping is an extreme sport that allows you to jump off a fixed base with a parchute. To celebrate 50 th year of Malaysian independence Menara KL will kick start the KL Tower International BASE Jump Merdeka Circuit from 7-26th August 2007. Aziz Ahmad first asked for permission to jump off Menara Kuala Lumpur in 1999 and it was given. The dream of KL International Tower Jump came alive.

The first BASE Jump in Malaysia was Sunday, 3rd October 1999 at Menara Kuala Lumpur. The event was one of the highlights of Menara Kuala Lumpur’s 3rd Anniversary celebrations. This event is listed in the Malaysia Book of Records as the first Malaysian BASE Jump. Participants were Capt. Abdul Rahmat Omar, Lt. Aziz Ahmad and Martin Dumas, a Canadian. They jumped off the broadcast part of the Tower Head at Level TH05 from a height of 300 meters.

The event this year will be a 5 building event including the tallest buildings in the states of Sarawak, Sabah, Alor Setar, Penang and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.KL TOWER INTERNATIONAL JUMP (KLTIJ) has come a long way since its inception. This year the following building are planned ,

Location: Kuching, Sarawak
Jump Height: 280 feet
Jump Date: 8th August - 1 day of jumping

Menara Tun Mustapha
Location: Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Jump Height: 350 feet
Jump Dates: 11th and 12th August - 2 days of jumping

Menara Alor Setar
Alor Setar, Kedah
Jump Height: 340 feet
Jump Dates: 16th and 17th August - 2 days of jumping

Menara Komtar
Location: Georgetown, Penang
Jump Height: 690 feet
Jump Date: 19th August - 1 day of jumping

Menara Kuala Lumpur (KL Tower)

Location: Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur
Jump Height: 980 feet
Jump Dates: 24th, 25th and 26th August - 3 days of jumping

In August 2006, 68 BASE jumpers from 17 different countries took part in
KL Tower International BASE Jump Merdeka Circuit 2006. Over 1880 jumps were completed during the event.
During the main event at KL Tower over 1380 jumps completed in 3 days.
Our Technical Director Gary Cunningham managed to complete 146 jumps during the tour.He made World Record in BASE Jumping.
