Thailand is the most friendly, clean and efficient of Asian destinations. Its perfect for the family because of readily available western food, western toilets and those little luxuries that make it an easy trip with kids in tow.

There is also lots to do like boating and snorkelling around the Phi-Phi islands and the hour-long ride through a rubber plantation. It is also a raved about great scuba diving destination and the reefs hold.

And ofcourse to get rid of the tiredness there are the daily beachfront massages, at just 300 Baht for an hour. Then you could spend a bit for shopping.

If you get tired of the beaches, you could hire a car and move to Khao Lak in Phang Nga province. Devastated by the tsunami, Khao Lak has taken longer to get back on its feet than its southerly island neighbour.

The scars are still clear, one of the most obvious being the police patrol boat that’s been turned into a tsunami memorial two kilometres inland, where the vessel came to rest after the wave.
